Industrial Designer, 3D artist
Thomas, the founder of FocalPoint, CGI, has been in the design industry since he was a teenager. He got his start designing perennial gardens in the Midwest. His passion for plant textures and color hues, inspired him to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Horticultural Design Build from Michigan State University. He spent his college career learning about perennial gardens, ecosystems, and plants while working at the campus greenhouses.
The facility, which was built in 1929, housed a collection with more than 4,000 species of plants from all over the world. The unique plant displays and variety of species, provided the perfect inspiration to see many of these plants in their native habitat. After finishing his final semester of college studying sustainable agriculture in Costa Rica, Thomas took a trip to Zion and Bryce National Parks, where he fell in love with the beauty of the desert flora and sandstone buttresses. He promptly relocated to the majestic southwest desert and began his career designing and building numerous gardens for Xerophytic Design, Inc., a company he started in 2004.
He has kept his entrepreneurial spirit alive with numerous projects featuring one of a kind products made just for his clients. His unique approach to design has earned himself and Xerophytic Design numerous awards over the years, as well as having gardens and estates featured on multiple guided tours, both locally and nationally. He is very excited about the potential of FocalPoint, CGI, as well as the opportunity to help designers around the world, showcase their amazing creations through high quality photorealistic renderings.
